Abstract (english) The objectives of the study were to investigate the association of maternal and paternal attachment style, clinical diagnosis of conduct disorder, and parental acceptance and rejection in adolescents with conduct disorder compared to adolescents without clinical manifestations of conduct disorders.
The study involved 194 adolescent subjects aged 14-18 years. The clinical group consisted of 94 subjects. After being diagnosed with a conduct disorder (F91) and a mixed conduct and emotional disorder (F92) by a child and adolescent psychiatrist, they were referred to the goals and purpose of the study. Respondents completed the Self-Assessment Questionnaires Youth Report 11-18, the Inventory of Close Relationship Experiences for Father and Mother, the Parental Acceptance/Rejection Questionnaire for Father and Mother, and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale.
The study found that adolescents with a conduct disorder show statistically significantly higher scores of aggressive behavior, rule violations, and externalized problems. On the attachment dimensions, they achieved a significantly higher avoidance score, which corresponds to an anxious avoidant attachment style that is categorized as an insecure style. Although attachment dimensions did not prove to be predictors of behavioral disorders, a statistically significant difference was found between groups in which clinical group subjects had a more prevalent insecure attachment style. Respondents with a conduct disorder were also found to have a higher sense of parental rejection. Gender proved to be a significant factor, as girls scored higher than boys on the subscales of father rejection, aggression, rule-breaking, and behavioral disorders. The subscale of the total rejection of the father proved to be a significant predictor of conduct disorders.
