Abstract	U ovom radu analizirana je problematika brzog svjetlovodnog prijenosa brzinama od 40 Gbit/s, tehnologijom gustog multipleksa valne podjele. Prikazani su načini kompenzacije svih neželjenih pojava, kao što su gušenje, kromatska i polarizacijska disperzija, nelinearni efekti miješanja četiri vala, vlastite fazne modulacije i križne fazne modulacije, te stimulirano Brillouinovo i stimulirano Ramanovo raspršenje. Razmatrali su se kompenzatori disperzije, te su analizirane osnovne komponente prijenosa svijetlosti DWDM tehnologijom, i to ugodivi optički filtri, izvori svjetlosti, multipleksori i demultipleksori, sklopovi za ubacivanje i izdvajanje valne duljine, optička pojačala, te fotodetektori. Kod nijh se se razmatrali zahtjevi, s obzirom na ugodivost i stabilnost valne duljine, uskopojasnost, polarizacijsku nezavisnost, vanjsku modulaciju te ugodivost kompenziranja disperzije.
Abstract (english)	This text analyzes the problem of high-speed (40 Gbit/s) optical-fiber transmission by dense wavelength-division-multiplexing (DWDM) technology. The ways in which all the undesired phenomena, such as attenuation, chromatic and polarization dispersion, and the following nonlinear effects – four wave mixing, self phase modulation, cross phase modulation, stimulated Brillouin and stimulated Raman scattering can be compensated are analyzed. Furthermore, this text also analyzes dispersion compensators, as well as all the DWDM system components such as tunable optical filters, light sources, multiplexers and demultiplexers, add/drop multiplexers, amplifiers and photodetectors. The following factors were taken into account in the analysis of the said system components – wavelength tunability and stability, narrowbandedness, polarization performance, external modulation and dispersion compensation tunability.
