Abstract
Curved structures in general present a big challenge to all the electromagnetic computational methods known today. However, for certain geometries, such as the spherical one, the difficulties can be overcome by applying Moment Method in spectral domain. In the spectral domain approach, a three-dimensional electromagnetic problem is transformed into an infinite series of much simpler one-dimensional problems by means of the vector-Legendre transformation. Each of these simpler problems is resolved by means of the Method of Moments and the final result is then obtained by the inverse transformation. The first part of the thesis describes the principles of the Method of Moments and of the spectral domain approach, which are used in the analysis. The second part applies the exposed theory to the particular case of interest, namely the analysis of spherical patch antennas and frequency selective surfaces, and discusses all relevant issues and particularities involved when treating the problem in a spherical coordinate system. To verify the presented theory, the results obtained with home-developed software are compared to those obtained with commerically available software and/or with measurements.

Cilj ovog rada je objasniti metodu analize sfernih struktura, kako antena tako i raspršnih tijela, pomoću metode momenata. Općenito govoreći, zakrivljene strukture predstavljaju velik izazov svim danas poznatim numeričkim elektromagnetskim metodama. Ipak, za neke specifične geometrije, poput sferne, teškoće se mogu nadvladati primjenom metode momenata u spektralnoj domeni. Rješavanje problema u spektralnoj domeni znači da se početni trodimenzionalni elektromagnetski problem pretvara u beskonačnu sumu mnogo jednostavnijih jednodimenzionalnih problema pomoću vektor-Legendreove transformacije. Svaki od tih jednostavnijih problema uspješno se može riješiti metodom momenata, a konačni se rezultat potom dobiva primjenom inverzne transformacije. U prvom dijelu ovog rada opisani su principi metode momenata i rješavanja u spektralnoj domeni, koji se koriste prilikom analize sfernih struktura. Drugi dio rada opisuje primjenu izložene teorije na razmatrane slučajeve, poimenice na analizu sfernih mikrotrakastih antena i frekvencijski selektivnih površina, te raspravlja sve specifične aspekte analize vezane uz rješavanje problema u sfernom koordinatnom sustavu. Izložena se metoda analize provjerava usporedbom razvijenog programa s komercijalno dostupnim programima i/ili mjerenjima.
