Abstract	In this work, a novel class of antennas, namely the partially reflective surface (PRS) antennas with dynamic beamwidth control, is investigated. It was found that the dynamic beamwidth control can be achieved by embedding varactor diodes or RF-MEMS switches in a PRS. These elements enable variation of the PRS reflection coefficient, which in turn causes directivity and beamwidth of the antenna to change. A mathematical model sufficient for a good definition of the antenna properties and requirements on the antenna design is developed. A number of specific types of reconfigurable PRS antennas are studied and validated using a full-wave simulator. For the purpose of the efficient full-wave analysis, a modelling procedure is developed. The procedure yields accurate results obtained in a short period of time. Using the modelling procedure, array-fed PRS antennas with scanning capability and bandwidth enlargement strategies are explored. Finally, theoretical key results are confirmed by measurements.
Abstract (croatian)	U ovom je radu istražen jedan novi tip antena. To su antene s djelomično reflektirajućom površinom koje imaju mogućnost dinamičkog upravljanja usmjerenošću, odnosno širinom glavne latice. Spomenuto dinamičko upravljanje postiže se ugradnjom kapacitivnih dioda ili RF-MEMS prekidača u strukturu djelomično reflektirajuće površine. Promjena napajanja tih elemenata uzrokuje promjenu koeficijenta refleksije djelomično reflektirajuće površine, što u konačnici rezultira promjenom usmjerenosti i širine glavne latice antene. U radu je predstavljen matematički model koji s dovoljnom točnošću predviđa kritične značajke i s pomoću kojega se lako mogu definirati glavni zahtjevi na konstrukciju ovakvih antena. Pomoću punovalnog simulatora je proučavan i evaluiran određeni broj antena s upravljanjem širinom glavne latice. U svrhu učinkovite punovalne analize razvijen je i postupak modeliranja djelomično reflektirajuće površine koji se zasniva na supstituciji ekvivalentnom uniformnom površinom. Taj je model onda korišten i za dodatna istraživanja, kao što su mogućnost zakretanja glavne latice antene te proširenje frekvencijskog pojasa. Konačno, glavni teorijski rezultati su potvrđeni mjerenjima.
